Our go-to place to book our vacation accommodation these days is Booking.com; I like the way I can find the best deals at the same time as finding the best place for our family to stay. If we were on a budget we saw some apartments in the town for just a couple of hundred pounds, Amphora Hotel & Suites was double that but what appealed to us about this hotel was that it came with breakfast and free airport transfers, this sealed the deal for us.
The arrival process was as smooth as you could wish for, the man who was there to whisk us away on the shuttle, was waiting at arrivals with our name on a sign. Our luggage was loaded and off we went, sadly it was evening so not much of a view outside the bus but as we pulled up at the hotel, first impressions had me impressed. Friendly greeting at reception paid for our stay grabbed our key and was pointed in the direction of our family suite.
Sadly the lift wasn’t working, but thankfully we were only up to the second floor, and we have developed the skill of packing light for our European adventures. Our suite was perfect for what we needed, we had one bedroom with plenty of room, and there was the lounge with the sofa with and lots of space for beds. We had one bed but seemed to be missing a couple of other beds, a call and run to reception (it was raining) and we were sorted with a couple more beds in the suite. Complimentary bottles of water were provided which was appreciated after arriving.
By this point the kids were knackered and ready for sleep, we were hungry and of course not having our bearing of the place just yet, we didn’t quite realise/think about ordering pizza hut to the room (we totally did this on our third night) but they kindly plated up some food from the evening menu, charged me half the price seeing as I didn’t have the starter and dessert, and I was on my way back to the room with a plate full of pork, mash and veg, the food was delicious and had me looking forward to breakfast the next morning.
And oh how breakfast was worth booking that very hotel for, we were spoilt with choice and was greeted with a chef willing to cook us fresh omelettes and pancakes right in front of our eyes. They had the same table waiting for us each morning which would seat the 5 of us, bought us tea and coffee learning that I had tea in the morning and the man had coffee. My favourite bit and something that impressed the baker man was the fresh bread station, lots of different breads to choose from instead of just the one loaf. Oli enjoyed having his bacon sandwiches on the brioche bread. Every morning, Me, The Man & The Kids left the breakfast room with a very satisfied tummy and was set up for the day ahead of us.
All the suites are set up so that you have unobstructed views of the azure Mediterranean waters, easy access to the outdoor pool and beach. It truly is a spectacular location; if it had been just that little bit warmer (or us a little bit braver), I’m sure we would have found ourselves swimming in that pool looking out to the sea. There is so much space for the kids to roam free as well as a very small play area, suitable for young toddlers.
The indoor pool is just as lovely, though the only issue is it’s not heated meaning it’s not the warmest of pools. But then I know it’s personal preference to the temperature of a pool, me being the fusspot I am can only do heated pools. There’s also an on-site sauna and gym, I liked the gym, but I did favour exercising outside with the scenic background as well as running along the seafront.
There were some epic views to be had from where we were located, catching the sunset while sitting outside Suite 48, the restaurant next door to the hotel was one of our favourite views. A hotel to consider if travelling to Paphos in the future, we had a walk along the other hotels and noted how ours seemed more intimate and spacious in comparison.
Touches like free wifi, housekeeping who left the rooms looking like they’ve never been lived in and free airport shuttle were winning aspects during our stay. We wanted a relaxing holiday (we say relaxing but we found something to do every day) and that’s what we got with a base like Amphora Hotel & Suites.
