How to Make the Most of London this Autumn

Crisp air. Colourful leaves. Cosy nights in. Ah, autumn – it can be a glorious time of year. And if you’re looking for a seasonal trip away, who could blame you? Still stuck on where to visit, though? If so, how about London? The capital displays the season in all its glory – and as always, it boasts an array of cultural delights for adults and children alike.

Why not follow our top tips to make the most of London this autumn?

Stroll around one of its (many) parks

Obviously, London is a bustling city – but what many people don’t realise is just how leafy it is. Its ten vast Royal parks cover 5,000 acres of land collectively, leaving you and the kids with plenty of outdoor space for exploring

Search for conkers in Richmond Park, spot ancient oaks on Hampstead Heath or head to historical Greenwich Park. For something the kids will really enjoy, why don’t you visit Hyde Park’s Princess Diana Memorial Playground, with its array of fun-filled activities?

Visit the museums – but at night

London is home some of the best museums on the planet – whether you and the kids like natural history, modern art or cinema, there’s an exhibition for everyone. But have you considered visiting these cultural buildings at night?

Taking place twice a year, October’s Museums at Night weekend invites key attractions to display their collections and artefacts in unusual, often quirky, ways. Previous weekends have included spooky tours, cinema experiences and interactive workshops.

The best part is that a number of the sites are free to enter – just check on the Museums at Night website to check first. The next festival will be taking place between the 31 October and the 2 November this year. What a perfect seasonal treat!

Explore the zoo

Who doesn’t love a trip to the zoo? They allow you to see rare, exotic animals in the flesh, while providing expert information on each species. London zoo offers an especially fun day out for families – here, you can venture into an authentic living rainforest, feed the penguins and become immersed in plenty more activities.

Also, just imagine how much fun your little ones will have in the kids’ zone. Home to a tree top village and a “Touch Zone”, where kids can interact safely with a host of different animals, it’s the perfect visiting spot for families. Better still, sites like Discount London make finding cheap tickets a doddle! Enjoy an affordable, special day out as a family with a trip to London Zoo.

If you love Autumn, you’ll no doubt want to make the most of it – and a trip to London could help you to do just that. Explore the city’s gems for the ultimate seasonal holiday for all the family.
