Our Dream Florida Itinerary

When travelplanners got in touch asking us to share our dream Florida itinerary, we simply jumped at the chance of sharing here on the blog ‘our dream Florida Itinerary’. As a family, we’re counting down the days to our very own Florida vacation and have all the below planned for our trip.

Day 1 – LEGOLAND Florida

We couldn’t take a trip to Florida and not visit the LEGOLAND Florida complex. Our eldest has been lucky enough to have already visited the one in Windsor and the one in California and has acquired driving licences at both of them so of course, he wants to add to his collection with a LEGOLAND Florida driving licence. For those who have never been to LEGOLAND and have no idea what I’m going on about, they have a driving school for children where they have the opportunity to drive an electric car around a track and get a LEGOLAND driving licence at the end of the ride which you can purchase for a small charge.  For those with children from the UK remember to remind them that they have to drive on the other side of the road; otherwise, you’ll end up with a child crashing into another vehicle.

Day 2 – Aquatica

Aquatica Orlando has partnered with The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards to become the first water park in the world designated as a Certified Autism Center. This is huge news to parents like us who like to travel with a special needs child, and for this reason alone they are top of our must-visit list. It has also been voted the USA’s #1 waterpark, so you’ll also be visiting an award-winning waterpark! We cannot wait to try out the KareKare Curl where we will experience a feeling of weightlessness; this new ride could be described as a “curve-shaped wave” which riders will experience when climbing the vertical wave wall.

Day 3 – Clearwater Beach

This beach lives up to its name with clear sand and calming water; some have even called it the most perfect beach in the USA. As a family, we like the idea of exploring Clearwater as the shallow water make this beach an ideal playground for families. It’s a great way to escape the hustle of the busier areas and get a break from all the theme park action.

Day 4 – NASA Kennedy Space Center

What kid doesn’t want to pretend they are an astronaut for the day, though what adult also doesn’t want to pretend they are about to step on the moon for the first time, it’s the perfect day out for the whole family. This is an ideal attraction of your kids are fascinated by all things space; they will be able to learn about NASA missions both past, present and future. And if you time your visit just right you might get to see an actual rocket launch with your very own eyes!

Day 5 – Walt Disney World

It’s true that when everybody thinks Florida, they think Disney, the most magical place in the world. There are many options when it comes to visiting Walt Disney World, you can visit one park or visit all 6 of the parks, you have the theme parks Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and the two water pars Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks. And if there wasn’t enough to do at the parks like fall sees the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and in spring you have the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.

Day 6 – Gatorland

Our 10-year-old is super excited about spending the day at Gatorland, a wildlife reserve which is filled with more than 2,000 alligators. If that isn’t thrilling enough, there’s ‘The Screamin’ Gator Zip Line’ launching from heights of up to 65 feet you soar across five intense zip lines ranging in length from 230 feet to more than 500 feet, flying over alligators and crocodiles at speeds near 30 miles per hour. If alligators/crocodiles aren’t your thing, there are also wild cats, birds, snakes and tortoises.

Day 7 – Discovery Cove

A trip to Discover Cove would be the perfect end to our holiday; it’s a fully inclusive day out for the whole family. From the moment you enter you are treated to unlimited food & drink, given all the essential equipment you need to interact with fish, tropical birds and other animals as well as the option to purchase a package where you can swim with dolphins. You basically spend the day in paradise, and I know this will be the ultimate way to relax after a busy week exploring Florida.
