5 Amazing Places For A Growing Family To Visit

Travelling with your entire family can sound like a stress fest waiting to happen, but actually, it’s far from it. It’s so different, travelling with kids, but it’s not a complete no-go. In fact, some people find exploring with their little ones is even more exciting than when you would go solo or as a couple.

What about if you’re expanding your family, however? Does that mean you can’t travel? Well, it shouldn’t stop you, that’s for sure! However, you may want to consider where you go if you’re expecting as not everywhere will be suitable for a growing family. Here are five amazing places you have to head to if you’re expanding your brood.

There are so many reasons to visit California (we have a whole post on it here), but even more so if you’re part of a growing family. Firstly, you can keep your current children occupied at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and even Downtown Disney. Secondly, there are plenty of beaches for you to catch some rays and put your feet up – just remember to layer up on the sunscreen. Finally, the food is absolutely incredible. If you’re getting cravings, then you’re bound to find something to fulfil them here!

Amalfi Coast

This UNESCO World Heritage site in Italy is regularly cited as one of the best destinations if you’re pregnant. The 50km stretch of coastline is dotted with beautiful beaches and quaint fishing villages, with the stunning backdrop of greenery to set it all off. It really is a sight to behold and promises plenty of R & R time for any expectant mother. Plus, your other half can take your children to the beach while you relax by the pool of one of the many self-catering villas found here.

If you’re after some hustle and bustle – but not too much – then Barcelona is the perfect destination for a growing family to visit. Here you’ll find plenty of attractions to keep the kids busy, including several amusement parks and aquariums, plus a whopping nine UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city itself is really easy to get around, priding itself in its accessibility. This means you don’t have to worry about hundreds of stairs or navigating cobbled streets in the Spanish sun while pregnant.

A Caribbean Cruise

Any kind of cruise would be perfect if you’re expecting, but why not go all out and head to the Caribbean? With a cruise, you can take it as easy as you like while having everything you could possibly need in one place. If you’re not feeling 100%, then it’s okay to just chill on the deck while the little ones attend a kids’ club or take part in one of the dozens of activities onboard. The only thing that you may struggle with it seasickness, especially if you’re in the first trimester and experiencing morning sickness already. Perhaps leave a cruise until the second trimester when you’re feeling a little less peaky (hopefully!)

Finally, if you’re really not in the mood for flying while pregnant, then there’s certainly nothing wrong with a staycation. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the UK, no matter what the time of year.

If you’re planning a summer trip, then you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the coastline in the UK. Head to Cornwall and send the little ones to surf school or marvel at some of the white-sanded beaches in Scotland. Winter is the perfect excuse to rent a little cottage somewhere cosy, such as the Cotswolds, and snuggle up with your growing family playing board games. Bliss!

Just because you may be expecting or have lots of little ones to entertain doesn’t mean you can’t carry on travelling! In fact, now is the perfect time to get out there and explore before you’ve got a newborn and things get even more hectic. These are just some of the most amazing places for a growing family to visit, but can you think of any others? Feel free to let me know in the comments.
