Keeping The Kids Happy In NYC

You might not imagine New York City as being one of the most family friendly cities in the world. After all, it is exceptionally busy, and most people head there to go shopping or soak up the city’s culture at the theatre seeing a show. Those aren’t exactly activities that would put big smiles on children’s faces! But there is actually a whole lot of fun to be had by families in the Big Apple. You just need to do your research before you jet off so that you find out exactly what kind of activities you can do with the kids. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

The Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is one of New York City’s most iconic structures and it also affords some of the best views of the city as well. Thankfully, you don’t have to walk up all the stairs to get to the top of the tower as there is a modern lift that really reduces the time – so no complaining from the kids that their legs are getting tired! I’m sure your children will love seeing the city from up high, and you might want to consider taking a pair of binoculars with you so that you can point out some other notable landmarks to them.

Children’s Museum Of Manhattan

If you are staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Downtown Manhattan, you won’t be too far from the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. The museum is aimed at children aged six and under, and there is plenty for them to see and do here. Exhibits show how children around the world live, and there is even a small outdoor water play area where the kids can splash around on hot days. Don’t worry; waterproof smocks are provided, so you won’t have to spend the rest of the day walking around with kids in wet clothes!

Central Park

If your kids ever build up an excessive amount of energy that they need to blow off, it’s worth taking them to Central Park so that they can run around and lose some steam! But the park isn’t just a place for them to run around – there are also plenty of play parks and even a marionette theatre that puts on regular puppet shows. You’ll also find a lot of street-food stands dotted around the park, so it’s a great place to head to for a cheap bite to eat.

The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum

If your kids love big toys and machines, then you should spend the day at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum. There is a whole load of stuff to see here, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to look around it all. Most of the helicopters and vintage planes are all outside, so remember your sunscreen on hot and sunny days!

As long as you choose your activities wisely, your kids will love NYC just as much as you!
