What I saw yesterday was two new parents show their new baby off to the world, I heard them talk about this new baby, and I watched as they answered questions about the new addition.
I watched these faces as they beamed with proudness, just as I sit watching One Born Every Minute and sob as new babies are born, and you witness parents reactions. I shed tears with the look at that proud Dad’s face. That was just simply a beautiful moment, and I feel privileged I was allowed to witness it.
Then I saw them put this new baby in the back of the car and watched this family drive away, home to start their new life as a family of 3.
So that’s what I saw. What did you see? Apparently, there was much to be seen beyond this simple, joyous occasion.
I’ve heard so many stupid remarks since this occurred, the scrutiny started from the moment they came outside for the first time, and someone pointed out the baby wasn’t it a car seat. I still fail to find what they were getting at and what their actual point in this was.
It wasn’t like Kate has just nipped out with the baby in an arm to have a cigarette now, was it. They were nitpicking, that baby went a few steps outside the door it was born and was surrounded by obstetricians and midwives. That and just about the rest of the world.
Comments about the car seat were one that had me banging head against the wall if you spotted me on twitter yesterday evening I was desperate for the details of what car seat they would be using for the new baby. I was head over heels when I found out it was going to be a Britax BeSafe; this is the same as what we’ll be using with baby number 3 after recently trying it out. We’re in good company baby.
The remarks started when they brought the baby out in his car seat, which by the way had me on full broodiness and squealing over this little newborn. Prince William, the proud father he has carried the baby out in his car seat, popped the car seat in the car on its Isofix base and then jumped in the car to drive his new family home. I don’t get why people are saying that’s not real life?? Why that confuses them? Saying baby wasn’t secure? I guess that’s people who are not clued up on the ins and outs of car seats and Isofix bases. Times have changed people. It is that easy!
I don’t think I was alone at being horrified when it came to the comment asking why Kate still had a bump. I’m thinking it might of had something to do with the fact she had JUST had a baby but don’t quote me on that.
